Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of our frequently asked questions. If you have a question that cannot be answered below, please contact our friendly Study From Work team today.

What are the entry requirements for learners?

A level 4 qualification (or overseas equivalent) or relevant work experience plus suitable literacy and numeracy skills

What level or numeracy and literacy skills are required to study a micro-credential course?

Learners require a functional level of literacy and numeracy skills to be successful on a level 5 micro-credential course. If a learner has completed a level 4 or higher qualification in any subject, they will meet the required standard. If a learner has not achieved this, then the ITC study from work team can ask to make an assessment on the learners suitability based on a pre-entry activity.

How do I enroll?

  1. Complete the enrolment application form on the study from work website
  2. Email us an image of your passport/birth certificate
  3. Accept your offer of placement and sign the Public Trust fee protection form

We already have leadership training; how will this help?

ITC micro-credentials are designed to complement internal training, not replace it. Being fully NZQA recognized and certified, learners can earn valuable awards on their CV’s but with as little of 5 hours study per week. This low level of weekly time commitment allows time for other in-house training to be done alongside the micro-credential course.

Each micro-credential also targets a specific area of management, so that businesses can prioritise which areas of development are most pressing for the staff member.

What is the cost of micro-credential courses?

Each micro-credential course costs $948.75 inc. gst for domestic learners or $1902.00 inc. gst for international learners.

When do micro-credential courses start?

ITC offers maximum flexibility for learners and businesses by having ‘rolling enrollments’. This means that learners can begin a course on any Monday throughout the year.

How long do the micro-credential courses take to finish?

Micro-credential courses are intended to be flexible to fit around learner work commitments. This means that there is no ‘deadline’ to finish. Each course takes approximately 150 study hours to complete, and we recommend learners spend at least 5 hours each week (which would means a course is finished in approx. 30 weeks) to get the most out of the study experience.

How are the micro-credential courses delivered?

ITC micro-credentials are online self-directed courses with tutor support. This means that all of the course materials such as interactive videos, written material, online activities, practical activities are accessible any time on ITC’s online learning management system. Learners are able to study at a time that suits them, however there are a team of subject specialist tutors that will be providing feedback to learners throughout the course and are available to provide assistance when requested.

Is there any classroom learning in ITC micro-credentials?

ITC micro-credentials are an online learning product so involves no in person learning. If a business would like to have an in-person tutorial day/s at an ITC campus or at your business, this can be arranged with ITC for an additional cost. Please fill in the contact us form for more details.

What kind of equipment is needed to complete and ITC micro-credential?

A laptop or desktop computer is required with internet access. There are no minimum specifications (even base level Chrome books are fine), however as there is lots of video content in the courses it is recommended to have an internet connection fast enough to watch these smoothly.

If my staff members are studying micro-credentials, will I have any involvement?

ITC micro-credentials are a huge time saver for businesses as we provide as much learner support as required. We can provide updates on learner progress to managers or HR staff if requested.

What textbooks are needed to study micro-credential courses?

Each of the micro-credential courses is supported by a core textbook. It is not mandatory to purchase these textbooks however having these textbooks to study as an accompanying resource will assist in developing your understanding of these topics. Details of these books and where they can be purchased (including downloadable e-book) links are provided during the course induction.

What is the induction and why is it necessary?

The induction provides learners an introduction into studying with ITC, how to study online and covers several of the “soft skills” that learners will need to be successful on the course. This includes skills such as research skills, presentation skills, referencing and report writing. Induction is provided free of charge to all micro-credential learners, and it is highly recommended for learners to engage with this before beginning their actual micro-credential course.  Induction remains accessible for learners to refer to throughout their time studying.

Who are the tutors that support ITC micro-credential courses?

ITC has been delivering management training at a level 5 standard (both in-person and online) for over 15 years with a skilled and experienced tutor team. Each subject is supported by tutors who have had both “real world” experience around management as well as having had experience supporting ITC’s online learners.
