WETA Workshop – Jake Downing (GM)

For our managers and aspiring leaders, the Micro-Credentials which ITC have proposed provide a great breadth of the development opportunities.

These bite sized courses provide excellent opportunities for employers like us to upskill staff and provide top level experiences for employees which will filter through to our customers across New Zealand.

Entrada – Sam Peate (CEO)

To date we have been unable to find any other training providers who cover these topics whilst also giving learners the ability to study from home or work.

Financial Planning; Management and Strategic Planning; Human Resources, People and Culture; and Communication Management – are key skills for managers and supervisors in our industry.

By delivering these micro-credentials, ITC will ensure that it continues to meet the needs of students, industry, employees, iwi and the community by providing students modular and flexible learning pathways, and skills that can be recognised by NZQA.

AJ Hackett – Graham Trubuhovich (GM)

I’m not aware of anything similar on offer in the market currently and believe there is both a demand and need for this sort of product. There is great appeal for both employer and employee to be able to participate in training modules that are applicable across a broad range and be recognised for the results of that training.

Cordis Hotel – HR Director

We have worked with ITC for over 15 years.  We are excited about this offering. Our team has limited access to courses of this nature and given the shifts and work loads of our team, a longer term course is not always practical nor as targeted and focused as micro-credentals will offer.

This will give extra recognition of their work. We see micro-credentials enabling our team to up-skill in areas they are not familiar with, adding to their skill set and what they are able to offer to us as their employer either directly or indirectly e.g. upskilling in HR practices will give them more confidence in leading their team.

Ibis – Eli Fifita (Manager)

This will help fill the skills gap currently in the industry and support many businesses who do not have the resources to do so. Not only does it benefit the company but the wider community too.  Being flexible and adaptable in the current climate is more important than ever and this will allow greater opportunities for those who seek without the financial burden involved.

Sudima – Phillipa Gimmillaro (Director of Talent & Culture)

We see a huge value in staff being able to gain relevant industry training and skills while working without forgoing career progression or income. The programme offered by ITC has ample support for the learner which is key for good outcomes when juggling learning whilst working.

I believe introducing bite sized credentials from an external provider is an excellent way for staff, to gain the confidence and enjoyment offered from learning knowledge and skills which are relevant to their work. As an employer and having working in this industry for over 20 years I know too well the industry has a high turnover and staff retention is always difficult even prior to covid-19 pandemic. I see micro credentials an attractive benefit to prospective employees as well as assist with longer term retention for existing staff. Upskilling and filling succession plans remains a huge challenge across industry, micro credentials has potential to build vital skills for supervisory and management roles and even fit into trainee programmes overtime. Micro credentials combined with the hands-on learning, coaching and mentoring that is offered already within the industry would be a winning combination.

We know their standard of education and outcomes are excellent, therefore I would thoroughly recommend ITC as a micro credential and education provider to industry.

Tourism Industry Aotearoa – Steve Hanrahan (Advocacy and Engagement Manager)

These small packages of training fit well with workplace needs, meeting a demand for just-in-time training that is accessible and of short duration.

We consider the existing pathways offered by ITC will be complemented by the addition of the proposed micro credentials. ITC have consistently delivered a high-quality suite of options and are well-placed to add to this with the introduction of micro-credentials.

Auckland Unlimited – Zac Watson (Product Development Manager)

I’ve got a degree in the area which I work in, but looking back there are areas I would re do if I have my time again.

These provide me with that opportunity without having to completely re do another qualification.
