What is a micro-credential?
Micro-credentials are part of the official New Zealand qualifications and credentials framework.
They can be at any level of the framework (such as Level 1 or Level 5), and can be anywhere up to 40 credits in size for a single micro-credential. They are not qualifications in themselves, but they can be components of qualifications. Taken alone, they are recognised as awards and provide learners with new skills and knowledge.
In fact, training schemes from the Education and Training Act 2020 are now treated as micro-credentials.
Micro-credentials can only be delivered by registered tertiary education providers, and are all NZQA quality assured.
